i made some chipped beef today.  i made a white gravey and added a jar of dried beef.  put it over bread and it was yummy.  my dogs lovedit too.  but then they are used to people food.

@shortbreadlover   I love chipped beef but don't make it often.  I usually buy the Stouffers frozen and while it is good, it's not homemade.

When Daddy was away on  a business trip, Mom would make creamed chipped beef on toast for us. 😋🥰.Memories ❤️

I got sick on it once as a child.  Haven't touched it since!  Glad everyone else seems to like it!

I make my mother's recipe for this dish:

1/4 cup butter

1/4 cup chopped onion

1/4 cup flour

1 tsp dry mustard

1 1/2 cups half and half

1 1/2 cups milk

1 cup chicken broth

1 12-oz can corned beef, chopped

Melt butter in saucepan.  Stir in onion and cook over medium heat for 1 minute.  Stir in flour and dry mustard and cook 1 minute.  Slowly whisk in half and half, milk, and broth.  Simmer over low heat until thickened, stirring occasionally.  Stir in beef until hot.

I would classify that as dog food, not people food.

@deepwaterdotter.  While your recipe sounds delish, it's not chipped beef.  Chipped beef comes in little glass jars.  Yours sounds better.
