@depglass --nothing scientific here but i have used both--the orange ones are sweet spuds and the pale ones are the yams--I found the sweet spuds are  much sweeter than the pale yams-- wow--what a concept---don't know much more than that however---am sure there is way more to it.

Interesting to just read this topic.  I baked a sweet potato in my air fryer last night for the first time.  Don't know why it took me so long to do this as I use my air fryer all the time.  It was quicker and nice not to have to use my oven as it was 81 here yesterday so didn't want to heat up my kitchen.  My only complaint is that I wrapped it in parchment and then foil and it still leaked out so I had more to clean up.  That often happens in my oven too.

If I didn't wrap it at all and just placed in the air fryer would it still do that?

@soonersis ---yes i think it would ooze without all the wraps--just put a small plate under it next time. Not sure why you need the wraps tho---i just rub oil over the whole thing and season it with salt/pepper--that way the skin gets nice and crisp

@wagirl Thanks for your advice!  I'll try the plate and no wrap next time.
