My DD Zoji rice cooker is trying to die--only had for nearly 15 years so it has been pretty reliable. Only last night it didn't do much--was making normal jasmine rice and then had to dump it all into my 3 qt instant pot-- but decided to jazz it up a bit--added some onion Better than Bouillon and a couple tablespoons of dehydrated veggies in with it. And what a delicious combo!! Was very flavorful and looked nice too. I'm not usually a dump cook--seems not to turn out most times--but it was good last night!!

I cook jasmine rice in my rice cooker and while it's cooking I sauté some cut up green onion and celery in some butter with some black pepper sprinkled in. Once the rice is cooked I stir in the sauteed onion and celery. It makes a nice quick side dish for like grilled salmon or grilled chicken breasts.

@wagirl @06greatwife Thanks! Both are very good ideas! We cook a lot of rice and just got some salt free seasoning from Kirklands (Costco) that I will try in my rice cooker!

I use cauliflower rice to make stir fried rice.....diabetics here. I usually add onions, carrots & peas (frozen), and any other leftover veggies cut smaller (broccoli, beans). (plus sesame oil, soy & egg)
Have been purchasing Kevin's Keto orange chicken, korean chicken etc...in the meat section of the grocery store. Find it on sale from $9.99 to $6.99 and freeze it. It takes 2 minutes to heat up the chicken and add the sauce before serving it over the rice.

I bought these dehyrated veggies--very low sodium-- a while back and have an excellent bread machine recipe that I put these veggies in--oh boy is that good. they look like the veggies in the various soup mixes you can make---so they are small and work well. But that onion bouillon----is really good---I use that when I make p/c polenta---also use the garlic one too.

And that's how recipes are born. You use up what you have or doctor up what didn't work and....tada....you've created a new dish. 🤗

Huh ... interesting.
As much as I love brown rice, I'd never buy a rice cooker unless I owned a Chinese restaurant.
