We LOVE these cookies! They are great to make and include in the Christmas Cookies assortment, but I just found my recipe, so I wanted to post it now! We enjoy them year-round! (Ours turn out kind of soft - not crispy..just an FYI)

Molasses Sugar Cookies

3/4 cup shortening

1 cup sugar

1/4 cup molasses

1 egg

2 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon cloves

1/2 teaspoon ginger

1/2 teaspoon salt

· Melt shortening in a 3 to 4-quart pan. Let cool.

· Add sugar, molasses and egg. Beat well.

· Add flour, baking soda and spices. Mix well. Chill.

· Roll into balls the size of walnuts. Roll in sugar.

· Bake @ 375 degrees F, on a greased cookie sheet,for 8-10 minutes.
