Are you following the recipe and measuring? If yes,nary beating the batter longer.

Make sure oven is properly preheated.

Don't open oven door to peak at cake.

DO NOT work around the stove or area while cake is baking.

Have your eggs at room temperature.

Have him make a cake while you watch and take note of every step.

Maybe it's your oven.  I never had a problem with baking until I had to purchase a new oven and ever since my cakes come out flat to, as a matter of fact none of my baked goods come out the same anymore.  I hate it but can't aford to go out and buy another one.  Such a bummer

Is there some fundamental difference between what you are doing and what your husband is doing?  For example, are you making the cake from scratch and is he using a mix?  If so, some of your base ingredients may not be fresh like baking powder or baking soda or you aren't measuring everything properly.  Do you live in a high altitude area and he is making the adjustment to the recipe and you are not?  You say it isn't the oven so are you opening the oven during the baking and he just leaves it alone?

I like the suggestion from someone who said watch him make a cake and see what you are doing that is different.

I stopped buying Betty Crocker cake mixes because of what I consider to be poor cake quality, one of which was no height, and only buy Duncan Hines cake mixes.   I also stopped using a mixer when making a boxed mix cake, and stir with a wooden spoon only until the ingredients are incorporated into the batter.

@sunshine45

I remember in the old days when making souffles, my mom made us all stay out of the kitchen because loud noise or opening and closing doors, drawers etc might make the soufflé "fall".. Guess it was true..I always thought she was trying to get rid of us!
