On a presentation not too long ago Jan mentioned being able to make whipped cream in the Vitamix using heavy cream. Does anyone know how to do this? i.e. -qty of cream, speed. length of time...

I don't think there is anything to it. Just put it in there, add sugar if you want, and let it rip until it is the consistency you like. Or just use a hand or stand mixer if you prefer, but the blender is just doing the same thing you would do using any other tool. ![]()

Found this on Google. There are probably many others but this was from the Vitamix website and looked pretty simple.

Directions
Variations: Substitute other flavorings for vanilla, or use 1 tablespoon flavored coffee creamer, such as hazelnut or Irish cream.

Although I have never used my VM for it, I do know that it whips almost instantly. Because it happens so quickly, I prefer to use a mixer or do it by hand rather than risk overbeating it and getting butte.
One tip that some people may not know is to put your freshly-whipped cream in a fine-mesh strainer over a bowl. This will allow the cream to stay firm for several hours in the refrigerators so it can be ready to go when it is time for dessert.

I've made whipped cream in the Vitamix. It is SO easy. Look at SusieQ poster's recipe. I pour in very cold (from the freezer, but not frozen cream), add a little sugar, and turn on low and then to high. It does not even take a full minute, so keep a close watch. Add sugar to taste. If it runs too long you will make butter!

Frankly, I'm surprised this would work because to whip cream, you need to incorporate air into it and how does a Vitamix do this?

I use my food processor, & like others have said, watch closely or you'll have butter, only takes a minute or two
