@Citrine1

Thank you but...

Well, we’d rather it not be happening. All of her friends think the same way.

Sigh...

My favorite recipe is visiting Mackinac Island and buying from the homemade local stores! Mmmmm with a view!

"Phenomenal Fudge" is a great online resource for rich, creamy fudge.

I should say as to the above tombstone recipe - I'm not sure what two squares of chocolate might be.  Over the years, Baker Chocolate changed its packaging so a square is no longer one ounce.  Since I don't know the date this tombstone was inscribed it could be two ounces of chocolate not two squares or it could be correct at two squares.  Its a puzzlement.

Re: What's your favorite fudge recipe? I may indulge in making some this year!!

I have been making the same one since 1985 I found in a Ladies Home Journal magazine.  They have updated it now to make it easier with chocolate chips but I still use the old fashioned cocoa and stir and stir and stir then boil and boil and boil, then stir a whole lot more.  I could probably stay home on Thanksgiving and just send my fudge and no one would miss me.  The new generation has been eating it for years will not let me forget it.

Double Decker Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge

1 tablespoon plus 1/2 cup butter (no substitutes), divided

4-1/2 cups sugar

1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk

1 jar (7 ounces) marshmallow creme

2 cups peanut butter chips, divided

1/2 cup baking cocoa

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Line a 9-in. square pan with foil and grease the foil with 1 tablespoon butter; set aside. In a heavy saucepan, combine the sugar, milk, marshmallow creme and 1/4 cup butter. Cook and stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a rapid boil; boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from the heat.
  • Pour 3 cups of hot mixture into a bowl; add 1 cup peanut butter chips. stir until chips are melted and mixture is smooth. Pour into prepared pan. To the remaining hot mixture, add cocoa, vanilla, and remaining chips and butter; stir until chips and butter are melted and mixture is smooth. Pour evenly over peanut butter layer in pan. Cool. Using foil, lift fudge out of pan. Cut into 1-in. squares. Refrigerate in airtight containers. Yield: 3-1/2 pounds.

Our family's favorite has always been the recipe on the Hershey's cocoa box.  The only one I've ever made.  I haven't made it for so long, I don't even know if the recipe is still on the box.  However, I wrote it down years ago just in case Smiley Happy.  Very easy recipe.

I make the origonal Kraft Marshmello Cream recipe!  Yum!

ingredients...

3 sticks of full flavor margarine

6 cups of regular sugar

large can of Evaporated Milk,

2- 12 oz packages of semi sweet chocolate chips

1 tsp vanilla

13oz jar of Kraft marshmallow cream

Bring butter, sugar, and evaporated milk  to a gentle rolling boil for 5 minutes stirring constantly and 234 degrees is reached or a soft ball stage.

Remove from heat.  Add vanilla, chocolate chips and marshmello cream.  Stir with a very large spoon.

I pour mixture into a 9 x 13 lined with parchment which prevents me using more butter.  Sit for 8 hours befor cutting.
