Re: What's on your Easter menu?

@Noel7 that is the coolest butter lamb.....I have never seen that before!  We are having the usual - Greek lamb roasted with tomatoes, peppers, onions, potatoes, spices.  Greek salad. DH likes to do the flaming saganaki cheese for an appetizer.....opa!  It's just us three.....simple.

@sward05

I've looked around and haven't been able to find that brand in SF.  I am so disappointed that everyone seems to be selling only spiralized hams.  I like to be able to get chunks off for split pea soup after Easter.

[ Edited ]

Lamb, asparagus, potatoes (not sure what kind yet), arugula salad with pomegranate and goat cheese, fresh fruit salad, relish tray with olives, stuffed celery and of course deviled eggs.

When I lived in Southern California I always had strawberry shortcake for dessert but since I can no longer get fresh strawberries from the fields I am having lemon cheese cake.

Hi @fourpaws56 !  Good to see you Smiley Happy

The butter lamb is a Polish tradition, handed down from father to son, as I read in Sunset magazine years ago.  We aren't Polish but I fell in love with the tradition.

I also have a lamb cake mold!  From Wilton years ago.  I made it a couple of times but it looked like the Easter poodle.  We laughed about that a long time.

Thank you for the good wishes and Happy Easter to you and yours Heart

Re: What's on your Easter menu?

Everyone's menu items sound so yummy.  We will have a smaller family group this Easter as 5 of our family will be in Germany and Italy for soccer tournaments.  We will have Apricot glazed ham, Cheesy scalloped potatoes, Maple dill carrots.  Of course, mandatory Deviled Eggs.  My husband requests Pickled Beets & Eggs, too.  We'll add some salads and homemade pies, definitely a Banana Cream.  Looking at a recipe to try a Limoncello Cream Pie also.  We do an Easter Egg Hunt with the grandchildren each year (sometimes in the house if we have bad weather!!).  Last year, my daughter's thought the grandkids were getting too old, but we put coins in the plastic eggs and they race for the money AND compete for who finds all their eggs first!!  Great fun to see teenagers still having fun with their younger cousins!  Blessed Easter holiday to all.
