Not just one thing for me....I need good moist turkey, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce and some sort of potato (I like yams or sweet potatos). I put gravy on everything except the cranberry sauce and all of these items work well together. As if they were all made for each other. It would feel like something was off if any of them was missing.
As for dessert, I'm easy. I like most pies (not a fan of pumpkin but I tried sweet potato recently and it's very good) and cakes.

Besides the turkey, this Hoosier family has to have Mashed potatoes and Noodles.

If you google it, you will find recipes for the pie. So good and worth the time to make it.
For the crust recipe, the ingredients are put directly into the pie plate and mixed in the plate. It is a no roll out. Instead, it is a single crust that is patted in place with your hand. Simple and good.I don't think any other roll out crust I have made before can compare.
Have a happy holiday.

Oh my we must have the same grandmother. I had to sit down back in the 1980's and watch her make it while I wrote it down. After about three times making it my family said I finally nailed it.

I'm in the same situation as you ladies. My step grandmother's turkey and dressing. It took 4-5 years of having the time to sit with her and get the directions.

Dressing, dressing, and more dressing.
And we like all types - cornbread, traditional herb breaded, sausage dressing, cranberry apple, you name it.
