@BirdieGal, I'm curious. What is your recipe for glaze?
If I use a glave, I use the one that comes with the ham. One child likes glaze on ham, on does not

When I bake a ham I put pineapple rings on the outside of it and put a maraschino cherry in the middle of each ring. Then I mix the pineapple juice and the maraschino cherry juice together to use as a glaze. I put a few cloves in the ham in between the pineapple rings. I remove all of them before slicing.

Ooooops! I forgot to say, hey @BirdieGal! Please share your ham glaze recipe!
I'm dying to know what turned your dad off.

Its really easy and doesn’t taste at all like what it seems like it would.
1cup brown sugar, packed (either dark or light) I use dark
1/3 cup prepared horseradish, not sauce
1/4 cup lime juice
Mix all ingredients together in a small saucepan. Bring to a low boil. Stir constantly while boiling. Do not walk away, it will spill over if not stirred.
Continue to cook until slightly thickened. It will also continue to thicken once cooled.
I usually double this recipe because everyone wants extra to drizzle or dip.
It really is good. Good over whole ham or grilled ham steaks.
I bet you can guess which ingredient Dad didn’t like!

Thanks so much, @BirdieGal! Your dad may not care for horseradish, but I do!
What a great idea to give some real zip to the glaze. Next time I make a ham, I'll use it.
TY again, & Happy upcoming Tday!

Thank you @BirdieGal. I think that sounds good. Never heard of using horseradish, but I bet it would be delish, and if I make a ham for Thanksgiving, I may try that.
Is the horseradish what your dad didn't like? LOL.

THANK YOU! We love horseradish. The glaze has an ever so slight zing to it but not hot. It’s just something that makes you go OOOOH! It cooks to a dark caramel color, very nice.
You and yours have a wonderful day!

@BirdieGal. I also like the addition of lime to further cut down on the sweetness.
I have a feeling your family's glaze will be my go-to.
Thanks again, & BTW, I'm a bird person too.
