Re: What do you bring to a pot luck, thanks in advance!

@KathyM23

Sorry for such a late response on an old thread BUT, I love to see any taco dishes with Marzetti Honey French added. I grew up going to a family owned authentic Mexican restaurant (shout out La Cabana) and that's where I first had the French dressing added. I even sub Catalina - Western at times.

that's all.. 🤭

By request, we always bring taco salad.  Iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, taco cheese, ground sirloin, green onions, kidney beans, Marzetti honey french dressing and taco chips.

We always wait til ready to eat to add the dressing to avoid wilting and then put the taco chips on top.

May I ask where you are finding marzetti honey french dressing?

I'd love to try it!

I usually use any Catalina...but this sounds SO good.

Wegman's doesn't carry it and Walmart and Amz are selling at scalper prices I think.....$25 for a 3 pack!  Yikes!!

@RespectLife Oh boy I goofed.  DH is the cook in our family and I just asked him what the dressing was for Taco Salad and he said he uses Catalina.

I was mixed up on the dressing.  The only Marzetti dressing he buys is the Sweet and Sour and he uses that on a different pasta salad he makes.

Sorry for my error on the dressing on the Taco Salad.  Marzetti  probably isn't the brand that makes Honey French.

Thanks @KathyM23

No, Marzetti does make Honey French!  Just not avail in any stores by me.

I googled homemade recipes for Honey French and will try to make it myself.

The honey in it sounds so good!!  If the pictures are any true indication, it looks like a Catalina type dressing....not orange French at all.

Thanks again!

@Irmasdc-  buy French Dressing from Aldi.  They have one that is

like Catalina and a creamy French that is delicious.  Usually costs around @2.00 for a 16 oz. squeeze bottle.  Their Thousand Island dressing is very much like the Litehouse brand which has gotten way overpriced for a 13 oz. bottle.  All Aldi's dressings are good and are 16 oz. shelf stable for around $2.00 - $2.25.

@WORKING GAL  Will do! You know I read somewhere that Litehouse & McCormick are who make the Aldi brands. I saw it on TikTok in a employee secrets spilled group. I'm actually headed there tomorrow bc you're correct about prices. Thousand Island, my Mr's fav is almost $5 a bottle.

Just saw this today. What a great idea! I eat a lot of tacos and never thought of this twist. It would work well with beef, chicken or fish tacos.

Re: What do you bring to a pot luck, thanks in advance!

I don't prepare anything.  I hate the cleanup and taking the dishes home after "someone" stole a good dish of mine.

I buy what the host-coordinator says is still needed ... a large box of good cookies, or perhaps cups, disposable silverware and plates, a bottle or two of wine ... something I can bring and then forget about.

Of course I offer to help with clean-up, but I don't take anything I have to schlep home.

Usually lasagna.
