@SandySparkles   Yes, I  have her recipe and we make them together during Thanksgiving or Christmas. I am so very blessed to have both of my parents living with me. ❤️

German chocolate cake and Coconut cake....My dear mother made the best all homemade with fresh coconut and for the German chocolate frosting she would buy the nuts in the shell she would never buy the shelled nuts in a bag....I sure miss those cakes like she made.

@SandySparkles ..........I havent had Black Walnut ice cream in years either, its hard to find, its my favorite ice cream too.

If you chose to bake a Black Walnut cake also make the icing black walnut flavored too.  Baking it is the only way I know to get one as you cant buy them, they are non existant in stores.

Also, my favorite fudge is black walnut.

@happilyretiredgirl Welcome!🥰  Yesssss! I only eat homemade German Chocolate Cake, but have never used fresh coconut in mine. Your post inspires me to use it the next time I bake one! I think it is WONDERFUL that your dear mother actually HULLED her nuts; cannot get any fresher than that!😊 Your family was indeed fortunate to be able to enjoy cake that was so LOVINGLY prepared!!!😁
