Re: Vitamix-Jan Mueller recipes

I am not a fan of the soups made in the VM--tried the tomato soup  once and it was awful. Soups need to be heated thru and for some time to develope the flavors---its just the friction of the VM that makes them hot. Not hot enough for my taste. But I use it for alot of other things.

Re: Vitamix-Jan Mueller recipes

I've adapted several recipes that I've found to work in my Vitamix an am amazed at what it can do.  I love being able to buy blocks of cheese of almost any type and grated them to the consistency I want. We were at our house at the shore and had Pina Coladas recently. I was craving something sweet and had coconut milk left over but nothing to go with it. I had some frozen pineapple so I put it in my Vitamix with the coconut milk and had pineapple/coconut sherbert in a couple minutes. It was delicious and really refreshing. The kids loved it. I've done the same with peaches, tangerines, strawberries & raspberries combined, almost anything would work but the coconut milk with pineapple is still our favorite. I buy fresh pineapple, cut it into chunks and freeze it with our vacuum sealer, have also started freezing most fruits to have it ready to go and also bought a case of coconut milk from Amazon. These are great for summer desserts!

I'd love to hear from other Vitamix users and how they've adapted recipes for their use. I have a friend who uses hers to make face masks with fruit and other fresh foods, definitely seeing an improvement in the texture of her skin. Hopefully she'll pass some of her recipes on, too. Smiley Happy

Re: Vitamix-Jan Mueller recipes

I added my tweaks (some fruits frozen, coconut water ice cubes.)

½ c. grapes

1 peeled med. orange (a Clementine, seeded, is nice)

1 rib celery

1 slice lemon (I use lime.)

¼ med. apple (I like Fuji)
1 leaf cabbage

1 carrot

¼ peeled beet

honey (or dates, or raisins)

*1 banana
*pineapple
*strawberries
ice (I freeze coconut water)
rolled oats (a Tbsp. or 2)

*frozen

Load the soft ingredients first; frozen ingredients should be on top. Be aware this makes a LOT of smoothie.
