Using up my recent H-Mart -of mushrooms

[ Edited ]

Dd and I went to the H-Mart last week and I bought a few kinds of mushrooms to try. Got king oyster mushrooms that I cooked to taste like sea scallops--was wonderful--then some cremini ones and also some shi-taki ones too.  Decided to make a creamy mushroom soup and it was amazing--if I say so myself!!! And made it dairy free so DD could eat it. We went back to the market yesterday and bought some snacky things, had lunch,  and also went back to the  beautiful bakery in there,  for some really wonderful sweets---and we walked around to look some more. Was fun. We then walked to the Trader Joes close by-and well--you know--Woman Happy did some damage in there too!!!

How fun!  Mushrooms can be very different in taste and texture.  Always interesting to see who likes what.

We love mushrooms.  I use them a lot in my cooking.  Yumm.

I made cottage pie yesterday and used some cremini mushrooms.

I never saw king oyster mushrooms.  They sound interesting.  I'll have to look for them.

@wagirl Thanks for sharing. It was good to read what different items you made with the mushrooms.

Sounds similar to how my Dad used to cook. He would study a cookbook. And if a recipe struck his fancy - he was making it. Or is a food item was "in season" he would find a farmers market and buy it. And make many different recipes with the item.

Sadly, my son will not eat mushrooms and many other vegetables. But glad you not only tried but LIKED what you made.

Love mushrooms.  We made Portabella "burgers" the other day Costco had some huge portabella.

@haddon9 --It is a pretty good sized Asian market/grocery store.. It has EVERYTHING  from fresh fruits/veggies to all sorts of seafood , many alive in tanks as well as Asian type groceries--grains and rice and meats and frozen , liquor and on and on. Housewares and a beautiful bakery too. Prices are reasonable.Dd and I like Asian food alot and we try to make a few things using ingredients that the regular grocery stores don't carry. Also there is a deli type shop to get already prepared food to eat there.
