Turning boxed cake mix into decadent poundcake 👍

DH's favorite cake in all the world is poundcake, but I didn't feel like the bother today, and didn't have a box of poundcake mix in my pantry.

So I googled this hack and it is absolutely delicious....

  • 1 box cake mix (I used lemon)
  • 1 4.5 oz package of instant pudding (I used vanilla)
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

No fancy directions - mix it all together on medium speed for about 2 minutes or until lumps are gone.  I used a loaf pan and it took about 45 minutes at 350°

@house_cat @This looks good. What brand of cake mix and what kind of oil did you use?

This was the cake mix. I used vegetable oil.

yes, i have done this hack before! i have also changed up the pudding flavors, change the water to a juice, and/or add extracts to make a flavored pound cake.

another one i recommend is a SOCK IT TO ME CAKE. this one can be changed around a bit also.

I start with THIS, add flavored pudding mix, and flavored yogurt...to my taste:

Love pound cake!!! I used boxed mixes to make my boozy bundt cakes for xmas gifts years ago--everyone raved about them.

Yesterday I made a banana bread using mayo---and it turned out not awful!! Kind of off subject but ----the ghosties made me do it!!!!Man Very Happy
