All tuna is not created equal.  There are different varieties and the type determines the price and quality, not the locale from which it was caught.  The best is served in restaurants as steaks, while the lesser quality is canned.

Gloucester is quite a hub for bluefin which is desired for sushi, so Japan is where they quickly send it off to.
