Tuna Casserole With Some Crunch

Tuna Casserole With Some Crunch

 

1   (6 1/2 ounce) can tuna...drained

1 can mushroom soup

1/4 cup milk

1/8 cup onion...minced

1 cup celery...chopped

1 can chow mein noodles

1/2 cup silvered almonds...OR chopped cashews

1 small can water chestnuts...drained and chopped

 

Mix all ingredients together and then put in a buttered baking dish, saving some of the noodles and nuts to sprinkle over  the top. Bake at 350*for 30 minutes.

Sounds great.  But I am having lots of problems finding canned mushroom soup in any of our stores.  Any suggestions for where I can find it.  I am in the Maryland in western maryland.

@bonnielu  I don't like mushroom flavor so I always substitute cream of celery or chicken.  Works just fine.

That sounds really good to me.   I haven't had it in over 40 years.   My husband has some kind of aversion to it for some reason.  LOL    My Mom used to put potato chips on top, but those noodles sound pretty good.

I know Campbells used to have something called Golden Mushroom.   I'd use condensed cream of mushroom if I couldn't find that.   Or just cooked mushrooms would work.

I'll try the noodles sometime though.
