I am very lucky in that we have a Mexican market with a bakery that makes probably the BEST tres leches cakes in the USA. Yes, they are *that good* and I've tasted many in my travels.
Now, if I was going to make one from scratch, Cook's Country had segment on one of their shows a couple years ago. The recipe has been copied on many websites here's one:
Good luck!

- Combine the whole milk, condensed milk, and evaporated milk together. Pour over the top of the cooled cake.
- Whip whipping cream, the remaining 1 cup of the sugar, and the remaining 1 teaspoon vanilla together until thick. Spread over the top of cake. Be sure and keep cake refrigerated, enjoy!
Thank you for taking the time and effort to share your recipe!
I do remember poking holes and using a turkey type baster to put the milks in?
I will let you know how it turns out!
