Trader Joe's BBQ Sauce Review

Has anyone else tried them? It's that time of year, BBQ!

The Fearless Flyer had shown BBQ sauces carried by TJoe's so I got a couple to try.

The Chipotle was really hot, which surprised me because I've had various chipotle foods that were smoky, not hot like that.

Then we tried the Korean BBQ, really spicy.  I've turned into a food wimp Woman Surprised

The third was one with bourbon which I thought DH would like, and he did.  I liked that one, it has a nice balance imo.

Their fourth is Brown Sugar BBQ which I didn't get but I will try it, I like another brand of that kind.

Re: Trader Joe's BBQ Sauce Review

We don't have a Trader Joe's but wish we did. Do you have to have a membership to buy there like you do at Sam's? I think they have one that's just about the same drive we make when we go to Sam's.

Only BBQ Sauce we use is Head Country & Sweet Baby Ray's. DH got a copycat Head Country recipe that tastes just like it. It will come in handy when we retire if we move because it's not available there.

I just saw a commercial for King's Hawaiian BBQ sauce. I did not know they made sauce. Have you tried any of those?

@Noel7 and for anyone else that may be interested TJ's Carolina Gold is delicious!  I no longer live close to a TJ's so I haven't had a chance to try these new sauces but would love to give the bourbon one a try . . . Smiley Happy

@Nightowlz - can you share the copy cat recipe for the Head Country?  I have always wanted to try it and read many great reviews of it.  Not available in my part of the country.  And no fees to shop at Trader Joe's.  You just walk in and shop.  No cards for special prices, no membership fee.

@Noel7 - thanks for the heads up.  I was at TJ late last week but did not pick up the new flyer.  We liked the Carolina Gold last year.  The chipotle one sounds interesting.   My husband is of the opinion that if you don't sweat it is not hot enough.

@ceekay I will have to ask DH where it is when he gets home. I think it makes a gallon so I will look for a calculator online to covert it down to a smaller amount. The guy that gave him the recipe told him not to give it to anyone. We bought it from him for quite some time when he made it before we started using Head Country. It was several years before he would give DH the recipe.

I have to take about a dozen large bottles of it when we go to Fl for dad, brothers & sisters.

I don't really barbecue much but have tried the Korean barbecue sauce and loved it.  I did not find it too spicey.  I am planning on adding it to some potato salad this summer.

Hi @Nightowlz

No membership needed, it's like a regular grocery store but not as big, and MOST of the foods are theirs alone, not something you could find at Safeway.

It's a wonderful store, especially around the holidays, you will have to see for yourself when you can!  Smiley Happy

@Noel7 Thank you. I will have to look see where it is. Sounds like it's more like a Whole Foods. Wish we had one of those too. We don't have much of anything where I live. We have to drive a 3 hour round trip to go to those places.
