It is usually butter….cake mix, pie filling & butter. It sounds like you are look for a “Dump” cake recipe and there are many. Try Googling or searching on this forum for “dump cake” and take your pick. There are even entire cookbooks on dump cakes. I make cherry or apple crisp using this method every autumn and it is delicious. Enjoy!

The way I remember it is the same as above- big can of pie filling ( whatever kind you like), 1 box yellow cake mix, 1 stick butter. In a 9 x 13 inch pan, dump pie filling in first, dump cake mix over it, then cube butter and dump that in... Then bake 30 mins @ 350 degrees. It's soooo good! But I only have it 1 or 2 times a year.... For me, it's very sweet too!

We always used 2 small cans of pie filling. One cherry and one pineapple, then the cake mix and then the butter.

I haven't had this cake in ages. I love it.
