Substitution for dry mustard?

Can I substitute regular table mustard for dry mustard?

I have done that on occasion. It didn't make a difference in my deviled eggs or potato salad dressing.

Yes you can...

In most cases you can use 1 tablespoon of prepared mustard in place of 1 teaspoon dried mustard.

Re: Substitution for dry mustard?

I always use dry mustard when called for.  Using the vinegary table mustard is far removed from the taste of dry mustard.

Totally agree...it might be an acceptable substitute in certain recipes, but certainly not in all...
