Just delicious beyond words!!!!! Easy to make, easy to eat.
Topping
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup softened butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 chopped pecan (I toasted)
Batter
1 cup softened butter
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup half and half
Preheat oven to 325 deg
Make topping by combining 1 cup flour with brown sugar stick of softened butter and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in med bowl. Mixture should of the consistent of moist sand. Add chopped pecans and set aside.
In large bowl, cream 1 cup butter, 3 /4 cup light brown sugar and 1/2 cup granulated sugar with an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy. (I used my hand mixer took a little bit longer but it did get fluffy). Add eggs and vanilla and mix well.
In a separate bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt, (I used my whisk to combine). Add these dry ingredients to the moist ingredients a little at a time (I divided roughly in 4's) Add half and half and mix well.
Spoon batter into 9x13 buttered and floured baking pan.
Batter will be thick
Sprinkle crumb mixture over the batter and make sure the batter is completely covered.
Bake for 50 minutes or until edges start to turn light brown. Cool.

I baked in 9x9 buttered and floured metal pan and baked for about 53 minutes and it turned out wonderful.
I also didn't break down the topping to pure "sand", I like those small bit of covered butter so I had "rough sand".
This is one delicious coffee cake and will make again. I used real butter and good cinnamon and real vanilla.
Looks like a lot of work but it's not.

Thanks! Sounds delicious. My aunt gave me her ancient Kitchen Aide mixer, so this might be my inauguration of using it. Have all the ingredients in house.

Not too much work so I'd give it a try. I'm wondering about the 13x9 size. I'd like my pieces to be about two inches high and I'm worried they might be kind of thin.

That's why I made mine in a 9x9"
also stopped at Starbucks to look at their, they do have the ribbon on "goodness" in the middle so next time, I'll double the topping, put 1/2 the dough down, spread the topping, more dough and more topping.
Mine has been long gone but this was really good.
