Re: Spritz cookies

[ Edited ]

Just showing you @Mom2Dogs

how nicely the Wilton one worked -- on first try!  If you want to try again! I know you were looking for a recipe.

most likely not easy this year to find the (OXO or ) Wilton cookie press using the recipe included, the spritz turned out perfectly!  Easy to use first few were wonky but then pressed easily!

@homedecor1   Yum....I'm ready to make some more coffee and would love to sample those cookies, they are so good and the different shapes and colors look so nice on a tray.    I did try to find a press that I could get today but no luck...and the nearest town is an hour away, sigh, no time for running today.... I might buy some premade, cause now I really want them!!

I love spritz cookies--I used to make them every christmas using that cookie gun.  I made snakes out of the dough to fit the barrel of the thing, , then put them in the refer to chill. also put the gun barrel in there  to make sure all was chilled. then put it all together and was very successful at getting wonderful shapes. the first one or two were a little wonky, but all the rest turned out great. I am thinking there are prob nonstick cookie guns out there now.

For those that make the spritz cookies..my recipe DID NOT call for cream cheese...I am wondering if the cream cheese makes the dough more substantial and helps with better results?

We have a bunch of cookie presses in the attic: ones we've bought and inherited.  We used to make dozens of them.

Our favorites were the camel ones made with a gingerbread flavored spritz recipe.

Good to know.  What press did you like the best please?Smiley Happy

@ECBG Well, the old Mirror one (big old twist thing with copper trim!) is one of only two that have the disc that makes camels.  And we MUST have the molasses cookies made into camels.

The only other must are the trees, which I think this year will be flocked since I think we pitched out all the food coloring and therefore they will NOT be green!  Lovely "flocked" white trees with white "sugar snow" on them!  Ha!

We have an Oxo one, which we will try, along with Wilton, a Williams Sonoma one in a tin, and a couple of ones my aunt ordered in the 1960's still in their mailing boxes.

I love spritz cookies.  I have a Super Shooter electric cookie gun.  From the late 80's.  It is so easy to use.  I love it.  DEA3D088-B079-4278-B3EC-A3477CC9ED35.jpeg

@4kitties   I had that one many years ago, then it quit working.

Just today fought my Pampered Chef cookie press. Used recipe DM used with her hand crank version.  I was so frustrated. Dough came out but did not release.  Is there a trick?
