I love spritz cookies, but gave up years ago and ditched the cookie press. All of a sudden I had trouble getting the dough out of the press...I tried two different presses.
Does anyone have a recipe for this cookie that does not require a cookie press? Thanks

I just wanted to say my mom used to make these in a wreath shape at Christmas all the time. I called them butter cookies. They were melt in your mouth yum.
I don't know why you could not roll out your dough & cut with cookie cutters. Spray or use flour on the cutters.
Online it says you can roll in ball & flatten with bottom of glass.

I don't see why you could not drop by spoonfuls. Or, pipe them by filling a plastic bag & cut the tip. But you wouldn't lose any dough if you just dropped them.

Online it says you can use a pasty bag but stay clear of plastic bags that tend to burst under pressure.
If shapes don't matter dropping it by spoon & pressing flat would be easier.

@Nightowlz the wreath shape tastes the best, lol.
My mother would make hundreds of them this time of year. We would be eating them as fast as they cooled.

Thanks, @Nightowlz ! I've got to invest in a pastry bag & tips!

They wouldn't be the same texture if dropped by the teaspoon. I used to get so frustrated with that cookie press. I always wondered if the electric ones worked better. Love Spritz cookies.

Gosh, thanks everyone!!
I love those cookies and I made them for years, then all of a sudden, trouble and yes I even had an electric one. I was so frustrated that I just threw everything away.
I can still see that old manual press that my mom used and all those fun shaped disks.
I like the idea of rolling them out, why didn't that occur to me??
