There are a million cheesesteaks in the big city. I spotted this one when grabbing lunch near a friend's house.

Ingredients: steak, cheese, fried onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo, ketchup, mustard.

I asked the owner what the origin was, as nothing about it rang any South American bells. He said it was on the menu when he bought the business, and he never took it off. It sells pretty well.

Does anyone know some connection? I'm betting a previous owner was from South America and liked his cheesesteak made this way.

Sounds tasty, but hold the mayo for me.

@PickyPicky3

I think that the mayo and the mustard are the 2 ingredients that diverge from the traditional cheesesteak, at least from what I am used to as a classic cheesesteak.  I look forward to see what replies you get.

Re: South American Cheesesteak

Leave off the ketchup and mustard and Philadelphians call that a cheesesteak sub (or hoagie).
