I make a couple of soups that I like to have cornbread with, vegetable beef and white bean chicken chili to name a few.  I don't always have the ingredients on hand to make a full skillet of cornbread.  So the last time I was at the grocery store I noticed that Pillsbury had a tube of "Cornbread Swirls".  I thought that would be a great substitute, just 6 to a tube.

I decided to cook them last night and there is NOTHING cornbread about them, just really dense bread rolled into a circle. such a disappointment.  Has  anyone tried them and what did you think?

No, but thank you for the warning!

I can't imagine how they'd stuff anything like cornbread into a Pillsbury vacuum tube.  I'd have been dubious from the onset.

Stonewall Kitchen has fabulous corn bread mix. I add an extra egg and use olive oil. Fabulous. IMHO ❤️🌽

Cornbread is so easy to make from a scratch, I never bother with a mix.

I agree with you, but my friend loves them.

That was my thought.

We buy little packets of Shawnee Mills White Cornbread mix.  It makes a 6 to 8" pan of it which is great with some left over for 2 people.

Also, the packages stay fresher than a sack of cornmeal so that's good for us.  We like the white cornbread more than the yellow.  And also white popcorn because the hulls are so much more tender and don't get in your teeth as much.

Here in the deep south of GA, if we don't need a full cast iron pan full of cornbread, I buy a box of Jiffy cornbread mix and make corn muffins.

No shame, they're lightly sweet and a whole lot less work, stir in 1 egg and a little milk.

Perfect for a few people with soup, chili, etc.
