Sopapilla Cheesecake Dessert

3 8oz. packages of cream cheese softened

1 1/2 cups white sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla

2 packages ( reg. can size.) of crescent rolls dough

1/2 cup melted butter ( 1 stick)

1/2 cup of white sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 cup sliced almonds

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Beat cream cheese with 1 1/2 cups of sugar and the vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth. Unroll the cans of crescent roll dough, and use a rolling pin to shape first can into the bottom of a 9x13 rectangular shape. Press this into the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish. evenly spread the cream cheese mixture over the crescent dough, then cover with the second can of crescent dough rolled in a rectangular shape.

Drizzle the melted butter over the top of dough, this will cover the dough.

Stir the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar with the cinnamon in a small bowl, sprinkle this evenly on top of the butter.

Sprinkle the sliced almonds on top of this and place in preheated 350 degree oven for 45 minutes or until dough puffs and turns a golden brown.

COOL COMPLETELY cut into squares about 12.

My niece fixed this for us on Christmas day. I made this dessert for us tonight and it is a big hit with DH. Hope everyone enjoys this. Carole

Hint: you can press the sides of the rolls together in the rectangular shape and not use the rolling pin.
