Soft sugar cookie recipe

I am in need of a soft sugar cookie, the old fashioned type that you sprinkle a bit of white sugar on the top and as I remember my grandma would add a raisin. I prefer cut out cookies which I have already made but dh does not like them..how dare he, they're so good!!

He would like a soft sugar cookie but I have never made that type, I prefer to use a tried and true recipe instead of picking one out of a cookbook, so if anyone is able and wiling to share and post a recipe I'd appreciate it.
