@momtochloe wrote:Ah @Carmie I do apologize as I believe we have had this conversation before . . . I am more than intrigued about your stuffing but one quick question. I am assuming the bread cubes are dried before you start the assembly process yes?
Nope, I don’t dry them at all.

Noel7 — wow What a serious time of it you had! Hang in there and feel well/get well!
The Pepperidge Farm stuffing to choose from seem like they all multiplied! Never have I seen so many choices!
DH is picking up our meal from Cracker Barrel tomorrow am!
Yes, ECBG, isn’t it nice to have that pre-made stuffing? What are your plans for tomorrow?
Good deal! It used to be the guys only who begged for that dressing!
@LTT1,Thanks for asking, Loves. I'm the matriarch of the fam. I do all the cooking each holiday. Our son as well as DH look forward to that exact flavor they associate with each holiday. Although, I would love to sit one out, it will be without what I (we) have come to love. What kind of holiday is that? I have been told that every where else, including dinners are "turkey" and mine is "WOW!" !
I'll make pies tonight, cooled by cool mountain air all night, and roast the turkey tomorrow.

the dressing that i make (an old family recipe) has eggs in it.......a lot more than two.

ours is an old family recipe......it is more of a trial and error with amounts, but i have to think about this while i am making it. LOL it sits in a separate pan from the turkey.
it is a very simple dressing but so delicious.......pepperidge farm bread crumbs (herb seasoned and country style), eggs, celery, onion, butter, salt, pepper, and juices from the turkey AND juices from simmering the giblets/neck/liver, etc...... there is enough flavor from those to use in the dressing AND in the gravy. i make it nice and browned, so it does have to cook for a while. i have never made it in a crockpot.
will come up with some approximate amounts.

@Noel7 I have always used eggs in my stuffing ,as did my mother ,and grandmother
It makes the stuffing very fluffy and moist. It holds together ,instead of being crumbly. I think it also tastes richer

I have always felt that way. Next time make it easy for yourself. Holidays get more difficult as time goes on . I don't think people think we wear out, We make it look to easy I was told about me , by a friend years ago(.lovestoteach)
