Saw this on facebook and tried it.  Don't know who to thank for the post.

On the 4th of July I put two packs of Oscar Meyer Angus Beef hotdogs in my 3 qt slow cooker.  Heated on low for 3 hours.  They came out like the ones cooked on the rollers at the gas station except not too done and dried out.  Any hotdogs would work.  Low 3-4 hours or High 1-2 hours.  So easy and everyone seemed to like them.  Not a recipe, but a method!

thats a great idea!! We don't do hotdogs very often but I can see how that would be delicious. Did you add any water or just dumped them in--wondering if water at the bottom and dogs on a rack would keep them moist too, like steaming them.

I did not add anything, but the rack and water might make them more like steamed dogs.

Thanks for sharing this method for hotdogs, this sounds so easy and stress free for a small gathering and you don't have to stand over a hot grill when  it is 100 degrees.  Also nice when you are having friends over for a soup/chili meal, you can do some hotdogs and keep them warm.....I will be trying this method, I would have never thought of putting hotdogs in a slow cooker.

The post I saw first had them standing up, but I didn't cook that many hot dogs so mine were laying flat.

I put my frozen hot dogs in the air fryer for about 5 minutes. Perfect and no heat from a hot stove.

I have been cooking hot dogs this way for probably 30 years.  I just lay them in a dry slow cooker, do not add any liquid, and they will cook/plump up in their own juices.  They smell divine while they're cooking. . . and I don't eat hot dogs!!   While one of my son's was in college, he "called home" for this recipe. . .All 4 of my (adult) childdren make "CROCK POT HOT DOGS" in their own homes.  They have become a family favorite/tradition.

Were they salty?  I usually boil mine for about 20 minutes; change the water and boil for another 10.
