I can't imagine using chicken gumbo, either. Beef & chicken......only the cat likes that.

Like they say, "don't knock it till you try it". You're in for a pleasant surprise, all these people can't be wrong over all these years. JMHO

Well, actually lots of people CAN be wrong because lots of people LOVE mashed potatoes! {#emotions_dlg.devil2}

qualitygal, I think she's saying to get a little extra 'kick' to your sloppy joe's try adding ACV, maybe 1 or 2T per lb of ground beef. Vinegar in Heinz 57 ketchup is what gives it the kick vs a milder ketchup like Hunts.

Haven't made Sloppy Joe's in ages. Mother's Day is coming and if it's picnic weather....I think this is on the menu!! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Nomless, I use the chicken gumbo recipe too! It is delicious!

Here is what I use:
Original recipe makes 6 servings

1 pound lean ground beef
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed chicken gumbo soup
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 1/4 cups water
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste

Easy to do, brown the beef, drain off the grease. Add remaining ingredients and simmer on low to blend flavors. You cannot even tell there is soup in it! Try it, I think you will like it!

I make mine like this except I add a little water and never Worcestershire Sauce since I don't like it. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

.#12, is my families favorite, also known as Souper Burgers.

Also I just combine ground beef with catsup.
