Should I gamble with a frozen turkey breast?

It will be just the two of us again as our local restaurants haven't resumed their Thanksgiivng buffets that we enjoy so much.  I've heard neighbors complain how flavorless a frozen turkey breast can be.  Can someone suggest a brand and a cooking method?

I've cooked them several times.  Just follow the instructions on the package.  It turned out good every time.

You can make a wonderful turkey breast, you just have to season it, add some root veggies and maybe some aromatics to the roasting pan, and put a lot of butter on it before you stick it in the oven.

I've never had an issue with Honeysuckle brand frozen turkey breast. I salt the cavity and butter under the skin and the skin. Cover for the first while with foil then remove so the breast browns. I also stuff the breast, but remove that and put in a pan to finish heating thru.

i always buy frozen turkeys.....usually butterball because they are consistently delicious and anytime we have ever strayed we have been disappointed.

I recently cooked a Buttlerball turkey breast. It was delicious.  I bought it frozen. Just be sure that you allow enough time in the refrigerator for it to defrost. I usually spread softened butter and salt, pepper and poultry seasoning on the breast and just follow the directions on the package.

I don't think you'll win much gambling with a frozen turkey.

Use money  instead. 💸💲😄

Re: Should I gamble with a frozen turkey breast?

I only buy Honeysuckle White turkey breasts from Kroger or Wal-Mart, and have never had an issue.   Kroger fresh turkey breasts, which usually aren't available in my local store until a week or so before the holiday have also worked well for me.

I use vegetable oil or butter on the skin, along with salt and pepper, and roast uncovered, so the skin gets dark and crispy.

I have used a cooking bag before, which also results in tasty meat, but my family prefers the crispy dark skin and prefers for the breast to be roasted uncovered.

@depglass

Many years ago a fairly well-known chef (friend of the family) said he'd be lost without cans of Campbells French Onion Soup ... for soups from scratch, of course, but also for poultry.

No matter how the turkey was prepared, he always poured a undiluted can into the cavity of the bird, adding some garlic cloves as well.  If you stuff the bird, fine.  If it's unstuffed, the onion soup flavor permeates the bird from the inside out.  You can also put a can of same drizzled over the top of the bird or breast, and it does wonders for the flavor.

I have also done that ever since, and he was right about adding it to any soup I made from scratch.

@depglass I'll take flavorless over a strong turkey taste any day.
