Never put anything on cantaloupe. Interesting fact.
@candyagain I used to do the same with apples. I no longer eat apples or melon of any kind.

Yes Yes & Yes. Yum!!! Just ate some for breakfast with salt. I used to salt everything but not so much now. I still salt watermelon but try to use less. I ate lemons with salt when I lived in Hawaii when lemons were .01¢. I also like apples better with salt. Oh peaches too.

Yes, I have.
These days I sprinkle the Tajin spice, which is dried, ground red chilies, sea salt, and dehydrated lime juice.
A student from my school introduced me to this spice some years ago; when it wasn't readily available here. She would bring it back to me from Mexico when she visited during her summer vacations.
Love this stuff on fruit...especially mango's and watermelon!

Npt much of a salt person, like it plain.

I put salt on all fruits, as Sarah Moulton says, salt points up the flavor. I do not salt anything else, go figure.

That's how it's done where I'm from, but I don't care for it. I'm really not a watermelon fan anyways. I only like the part close to the rind.

@redhead handbag queen That reminds me of my grandfather. When we were kids, we would go with him to the country fruit stands. He ate tomatoes whole like they were apples with salt of course.

When I was young, some relatives did this - at family gatherings like the Fourth of July, for example. I tried it and it wasn't bad. But why do it? Watermelon is perfect just as it is. And no one needs extra sodium in their diet. ![]()
