SLOW-COOKER BEER, SAUSAGE & SAUERKRAUT--makes 6 or 12 servings

(I have owned and either discarded or given away at least 5 slow-cookers in my adult life and have several cookbooks that came with them, plus a few others I bought back when slow-cookers actually cooked slow.  A recipe from one of them follows.)

Beware of  cooking times listed in old cookbooks, due to today's faster slow-cookers.

For large cooker of 5 quarts to 6-1/2 quarts---

2 (28-ounce) cans sauerkraut

1 envelope dry onion soup mix

1 (12-oz.). bottle of beer

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

4 pounds pre-cooked bratwurst, knockwurst or kielbasa sausage

Combine all ingredients except the sausage, in the crock.  Stir well.  Add the meat and stir.  Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or high 3 hours.  Adjust these times to your own cooker's performance.

Do the same for smaller slow-cookers of 3 to 4-1/2 quarts but adjust ingredients as follows:

1 can of sauerkraut

1 envelope dry onion soup mix

3/4 cup of beer

1 tablespoon Worcestershire

2 pounds precooked bratwurst, knockwurst or kielbasa.

Thanks for sharing this recipe with us, Nova!

This looks really delicious! My DH and I love to eat sausages, and I love to eat kraut, so I bet that we would enjoy this meal! Smiley Very Happy
