Request for Date Bar Recipe, tried and true

It's easy to find and compare recipes on google, but I would be interested in a family recipe you've used, maybe for years, and everyone seems to enjoy!

My hairdresser has a birthday this week and date bars are her favorite. She missed having them over the holidays and I thought I'd make some for her birthday. I don't know what her favorite recipe is, but I feel sure some of you might hit the nail on the head. Thanks
