Do you have some good recipes for healthy smoothies? I've decided that I need to lose some weight and get off of carbs and red meat. I won't eat kale, and I try to avoid lots of seeds, but I'm ok with most other foods. Care to share your recipes?
I found this one that looks good:
2/3 c plain yogurt
1 banana
2/3 c blueberries
2 large strawberries
1 c spinach leaves
1/2 c milk
2 tea protein powder (optional)
1 Tab honey

I've never in my life used a recipe to make a smoothie. I think most people don't. I just open the fridge and start pulling out fruits and veggies. If there aren't enough I work up to the freezer where I always have a supply on hand.

1 Frozen banana
1 Scoop protein powder

Most fruits have a ton of carbs and if you make smoothies with them, you are not cutting carbs.
Out of all of the fruits, berries are the lowest in carbs. Bananas are screaming high. Low fat yogurt and milk products are higher in carbs than full fat items.
You might want to review how you want to lose weight ..choose low carb or low calorie foods. Only some vegetables are low in carbs and calories.
BTW, red meat as well as all other meats are zero carbs foods.

The Smoothies Bible by Pat Crocker has over 400 recipes.
I like her recipe books and they all have bible in the title, yet they have absolutely no religious references.
Your library or health food store may have a copy to look at before you purchase.
Pinterest has a multitude of recipes also.
Best of health to you😊

Thanks for the suggestions. My Dr. wants me to try a mostly plant based diet, but I don't think it's going to work for me. She gave me some recipes for green smoothies to make for breakfast, but most of them include green apples or wheat grass or kale. Not gonna happen. I won't be able to leave the house, if you know what I mean. She says that red meat contributes to the inflammation in my body. I'll have to switch to Plan B.

Well, now this make more sense, Foods that reduce inflammation in the body are dark green vegetables like kale, spinach and broccoli, Yogurt and other milk products. Nuts... especially almonds, tomatoes and all colors of peppers. Salmon, sardines and other oily Omega rich fish are helpful too as is turmeric and ginger.
I can't say I blame you for not wanting to drink a smoothie with the items the doctor suggested. Perhaps an egg white omelet with the veggies would be more to your liking and salmon and a salad for lunch or dinner. These could be prepared in advance and just warmed in the microwave. A handful of almonds is good anytime you need a pick me up,
i hope you find a healthful and satisfying solution.
