Recipe with cherry on top cookie?

My neighbor makes a very good but simple (I think) cookie that has a cherry on top. They won't divulge the recipe{#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}. Anyway it seems like just a simple cookie dough with a cherry put on top. I think its a candied cherry. No coconut. Any recipes out there would be appreciated. My grandson loves them!!!!!
