this past summer I tried making a tomato pie. It was a waste of my good tomatoes. It came out as a messy goo of cheese, mayo and tomato, in a pie crust.

try salting the tomatoes after you cut them

it will draw out the extra moisture - pat dry and then continue with your recipe

i do the same with eggplant also

i always try new recipes at a family gathering

how else would i test it? I read and read to find the version that i think will do best

i did that when i roasted a duck for the first time and served it last Thanksgiving

it was good ... i was apprehensive since i dont cook with whole birds of any sort except for a few turkeys and cornish game hens over the years -

never even roasted a whole chicken

if it were for strangers perhaps i will stick with tried and true

what is family for? they're not cooking.... so how else do i add new stuff to the repertoire?
