Panic time! I "volunteered" to bring dessert to an Easter lunch - after I volunteered, I was told one of the guests is lactose intolerant.
Are there ANY desserts that I could possibly buy somewhere (at this point, price is no object) that is lactose free?
I really don't have time to make anything, but will, if that is my only option.
Any "easy" suggestions?
Please help me - I am begging you!!

Bring whatever you want for everyone else, and do a fruit bowl or plate in addition and that should be enough for the one person to have something to enjoy. You can't always cater to everyone. Don't SAY it's "just for them" but say in case someone wants something healthier, here's some fruit. . .

Just switch out the lactose things in a recipe, for almond milk and use coconut oil for the butter. I do that all the time. Don't have a special recipe as I don't make desserts anymore. And anyway--it's really up to the guest not to eat that type of food. I woudn't worry about it. Just tell that person it is not lactose free. I know there are lactose frozen products, maybe sherbet or a sorbet? Nice you are concerned.

Do you realize how silly this all is? Go buy a pie somewhere. If a guest is lactose intolerent they should either refrain from eating or bring their own desert.
What do diabetics do? Refrain from the sugary desert or bring SF Jello.
BTW: just read something that said LI is the disease of the week.

What were you planning to bring? If it's a cake with just a little milk in it, it shouldn't be an issue. If it is, the guest will know enough not to eat it. If it's ice cream, you might want to change to a pie or cake. It shouldn't be a big deal. Bring what you want.

seriously If I were lactose intolerant I would not want an entire dessert changed just for me
buy/make whatever you were going to and get a fruit plate

How about some sort of fruit pie?

Agree that this issue is silly.................if this adult can't avoid eating dessert for one meal - gathering - - he/she has more problems than food.

Why do we think we always have to cater to 1 person? Take what you want and the guest can eat it or not.

Angel food cake is lactose free.
Just add some fresh fruits (slice if necessary) in a bowl on the side, to top slices with for those who choose to.
