Saw this on You Tube. Get a pot of water not quite boiling. Add 6 to 8 pears. Set 10-15 seconds. Then put pears in a bowl of cold water. The skin just rubs off.

  

Wish I had watched this before I peeled a bag of pears for pear preserves.

i eat the skin on both peaches and pears.

if i am making jam or a dessert  i leave them on also.

Cool! I have a pear cake recipe TDF that requires a serious investment of time skinning pears. Thanks for the trick!

Works for tomatoes, too.    Or....if you have a gas stove, spear the tomato on the end of a long fork, and twirl it over the flame until the skin splits.

Thanks for the pear peeling tip!

My DM always peeled tomatoes and peaches this way. But not pears. (She used to can a lot!)

 

I wonder if this works for beets, too?
