OHHH!  A house made out of BACON?  I wouldn't need candles anymore if I could smell bacon all the time!

@RespectLife  Did you ever see a copy of the Southern Folkways Alliance Cookbook?  They have a description in there of something they call a Bacon Forrest.  Makes me want to go get lost  in the woods and EAT my way out!

@Honeybit

No, I have never seen a copy!  But that is one forrest I want to go visit!  It should be a National Forrest!  LOL

Well talk about bad news and then good news . . .

I just got back from H&R Block.  I won't bore you with the details but they have been filing my taxes incorrectly for the past three years and I am due a refund of almost $10,000.

I am so angry I am still shaking.  Wait until I get their "how did we do?" questionnaire . . . I will never go to them again.

Please know I am more than grateful for these pennies from heaven but if I hadn't opened up my big mouth I would have had to pay over $1,000 this year . . . so much for their highly trained specialists.

Hope you all are having a good day . . . Smiley Happy

OH MAN!  H & R Block messed up our taxes 2 years also except we had to pay!  When I got that IRS correction letter, I wanted to clobber them.  I couldn't even get them to refund their fees for those years!

As my mom would have said..." Doesn't that just jar your mother-in-laws preserves!"

I am so glad it was in your favor but zeesh!

This year, I am using a real accountant.  There is so much gobbledy-goop with all my mom's issues too!  She had a nice accountant for years so we are going to use him...even though it will cost us more for him than the 'walk-in' places.  I should have known.   How could temps possibly know all the tax laws!  Expensive lesson learned.

I hope you get that money REALLY fast!

Oh @RespectLife I am still so angry.  It was the same woman that did my taxes last year and if I hadn't argued with her about how could I not be getting at least something back let alone paying it got ugly.  She actually told me I had large medical expenses last year (no) and I got a huge refund last year (again, no).  Then after me dogging her out she finally found the mistake and said "oh, that must be new" so I told her we're going back the last three years to fix this . . . sigh.

I am so sorry to hear the same thing happened to you.  I wish I could find a good, reputable accountant around here.  I'm going to have to start looking around to be ready for next year as this is the last that H&R is going to be seeing of me.

And I'm glad even though it is cold by you the snow passed you by.  I feel bad for Chili, that's a lot of work to shovel like that especially when it gets that deep . . . Smiley Sad

@momtochloe

I don't blame you for being angry.  We pay for a service and expect it done right!

I vote they eliminate ALL taxes!  LOL

Poor @ChiliPepper, is right!  She needs to move to Balmy Buffalo!  Tee hee!

Well, she needs to move NORTH of Buffalo and be by MOI!

She would never have to shovel again...as I will make DH come do it for her!  LOL

How's that for a bribe, @ChiliPepper??!!

She can have my job...I will retire...laze on the couch all day eating Bon-Bons watching The Kitchen!

Oops..that doesn't go w/ my Lenten vow of not being a lazy slug, does it?  Oh well, I will pray for LOTS of forgiveness then!

Ok, we're back.

Thanks for the thoughts Ladies! I definitely got a work out! I think I'll pass on the Body Gym tonight, I think I worked out enough LOL!!!

Oh, I would be sooooooo mad too mtc! But like Respect said, thank goodness its not the other way. Plus, once you get all that dough, you can come to N.Y. & visit us!!!!!!!!!!!

I hired a private accountant several years ago too. I got recommendations from friends, checked with the BBB & Chamber of Commerce. I don't pay a whole lot more, if any, than those fly by nights.

Hugs my Friend! (((mtc)))

@RespectLife

I shoveled about 1-1/2 hours last night & 2 hours this morning. Of course I am not as fast as I used to be & had to stop to breath & for a quick p o t t y break/breaks LOL!

Yes, I made it to work.

Check out Oswego County weather. Some areas got hit HARD. Plus, the wind & white out conditions are a nightmare at times.

I work in Onondaga County. No snow here this morning - go figure huh???!!!

They closed the Thruway Westbound near Weedsport earlier due to white out conditions & accidents. Right now it is just lightly snowing so keep your fingers crossed for my drive home later.

Big accident on Route 690 near where I work, multi cars. One of the deputies got hit by a car, he is ok thankfully.
