This is a good starting point for a cheese ball. Plus, it's cute!!! Change up the ingredients/flavors to what you like or what you have on hand.

Cheese ball in the shape of a football with drinks, crackers and red pepper and text reading Spicy Football Cheese Ball.

Easy Jalapeno Spiced Football Cheese Ball

This spicy cheese ball is covered in bacon bits and shaped and decorated like a football for the ultimate in Super Bowl party food.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Additional Time: 3 hours
Total Time:3 hours 15 minutes
Yield: 30 servings

Ingredients:

  • 16 ounces of light cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 8-ounces of extra-sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/2 medium red pepper, finely diced
  • 1 medium jalapeño pepper, finely diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup of bacon bits
  • 2 slices of white cheddar cheese, to make the lacing on the football
  • 30 Ritz crackers

Instructions:

  • In a large bowl, combine everything except the bacon.

  • Stir to combine well. Make sure cream cheese is very soft before adding the other ingredients.
  • Place a small amount of oil on your hands to keep the cheese ball from sticking to them.
  • Lay the cheese ball mixture on some plastic wrap.
  • Form the cheese mixture into a football shape and wrap with the plastic wrap.
  • Refrigerate for at least three hours (longer is fine).
  • Remove the plastic wrap and coat the outside of the football with the bacon bits.
  • Add strips of mozzarella cheese to form the lacing on the football and two thicker strips to decorate the ends of the football (some cream cheese will help these to stick to the bacon coated cheese ball).
  • Serve with Ritz classic crackers.
  • Enjoy!

Notes:

The cheese ball will keep for about 1 week in the fridge so it can be made before the party; but don't roll on the bacon until the day of serving.

Oh my word @ChiliPepper

That is incredible!!!!!  I can't imagine all the time it took to make that field!!!

I would have to buy some little men, stripe their shirts....and mush them upsidedown on the field!   LOL

Can you tell I am a wee bitter for the BAD call during our game???

Don't intend to watch the 'big game', but I still wanna eat the snacks!

Sargento Football SpinachArtichoke

Football Bread Spinach Artichoke Dip

This is a fun way to serve Spinach and Artichoke dip with Sargento® Cheese for Game day celebrations.

Ingredients:

  • 3 - 8 oz. tubes of refrigerated crescent roll dough sheets
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tablespoon water
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1 packet (3 Tablespoons) Ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 can (14 oz.) chopped artichoke hearts, drained
  • 1 package (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
  • 1 cup shredded sharp or mild cheddar cheese

Directions:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 375°. Finely chop spinach and add to a large bowl. Add chopped artichoke hearts. In a medium bowl, combine mayo, sour cream and ranch dressing mix. Stir until well blended. Add to bowl of spinach and chopped artichoke hearts. Add cheddar and stir until well blended. Set aside.
  2. Make the bread football. On a nonstick work surface, unroll two dough sheets and re-roll the long way to make two longer rolls of dough. This will be the sides of your football.
  3. On a large baking sheet lined with parchment, unroll remaining dough sheet and stretch to flatten. Make sure your base sheet is centered lengthwise on your baking sheet. Place your rolled pieces together on the base sheet on a diagonal.
  4. Pinch the ends of the side pieces together to form the pointy ends of the football. Gently pull apart the two side pieces from the center to make a rounded football shape. On the ends of the football, gently pull the base corners to wrap over the pinched together edges to cover the seam.
  5. Use a sharp knife to cut the base piece around your football shaped sides. Use the two pieces of dough you removed to cut two long strips long enough to wrap around the top ends of your football, one on each side. You may have to gently stretch the strips in order to wrap the ends under. Secure ends and dough strips with toothpicks
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together water and egg to make a wash for the bread. Bake dough in preheated oven for 17-20 minutes. Remove smaller “stitching” pieces after 7-10 minutes or before it gets too browned. When football bread is done, let cool and remove toothpicks.
  7. Spoon reserved artichoke dip into football. Place “stitching” dough piece in center of football. Serve

Football Bites

Looking for a fun little treat to serve for game day? This Football Bites (With Summer Sausage, Cheddar & Ranch) recipe is ready to go in 10 minutes!

    •  Prep Time: 10 minutes

    •  Total Time: 10 minutes

  •  Yield: 1-2 trays of football bites 1x

Ingredients:

Food Ingredients:

  • favorite crackers (I used TownHouse because of their size/shape)
  • summer sausage, sliced thin (about 1/8″ thick)
  • block of cheddar cheese, sliced very thin (about 1/8″ thick)
  • ranch dressing

Prep Tools:

  • 1 small, rinsed-out aluminum can (like from green chiles), or a small round cookie cutter
  • 1 ziplock bag, or frosting bag

Instructions:

  1. On a sturdy cutting board, use the aluminum can (or cookie cutter) to shape the cheddar and summer sausage pieces into individual “football” shapes. (See photo above.) Then assemble the football “bites”, by layering cheddar and summer sausage atop the crackers.
  2. Finally, pour some ranch dressing into a Ziplock bag, and then use scissors to snip a very small triangle from one of the bottom corners. Pipe the dressing onto the cheddar to complete the football bites.
  3. Then serve and enjoy!
