I remember my Mom making an applesauce cake for us when we were kids.

Hers was in a 9 x 13 & didn't have the crumble topping but same basic idea as far as the cake.

Happy memories of Mom!!!

NATIONAL EGG ROLL DAY

Roll out the red carpet for National Egg Roll Day celebrations on June 10. This yummy food holiday delivers an American Dream story, plus satisfies a craving at the same time. You know you’re craving an egg roll now!

The egg roll began as a Chinese-American tradition that extended to Vietnamese immigrants reaching for the American Dream. These traditions grew from the unfailing dedication of families in chop suey palaces serving hungry workers.

Restaurants across the country perfected their own versions of the egg roll with a variety of finely chopped ingredients--pork, shrimp, cabbage, onions, bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, and seasonings all rolled up in a thin pastry wrap and deep-fried.

The egg roll is a satisfying snack or an exciting part of a meal at home or away. But, it has also played an essential role in making dreams come true for several generations of immigrants in the United States. A dream that continues to on for many still today.

Our ability to celebrate the egg roll is as close as our freezer, telephone, restaurant, or even our own recipe. The egg roll is versatile food we can enjoy it as a snack or part of an entre.

Our love of the egg roll evolves to meet strict diets, exotic flavors, and so much more! What more could we ask for a celebration?

@ChiliPepper I LOVE❤ making shrimp, or vegetable egg rolls! When I first learned to make them MANY sunsets ago, I used ground beef, carrots, green beans and bean sprouts! THANK you for posting this, because I think I will try to make some this coming weekend!🥰

I was just going to ask if anyone had successfully made egg rolls themselves.

I tried spring rolls w/ that thin wrapping....I made a big mess and ended up eating it as a 'bowl'  LOL

I don't even know of a good Chinese restaurant around my area.

@RespectLife I smiled as I read your post because I can certainly relate!😁 I have made MANY many egg rolls through the years, but have tried spring rolls several times, and struggled with the wrappers as well so I gave up!😄
