Ok, quick Aldi update:

  • Was lucky I found one of the last two water dispensers I wanted for the fridge.  It isn't quite as big as I was hoping for but the price was right.  I need to make a bit of room in there but that task doesn't exactly sing to me right now so I'll table that until after lunch.
  • Speaking of lunch, I bought a pouch of something called sesame noodles so I am going to try that and maybe throw some sauteed chicken in there.  Review to follow.
  • @ChiliPepper  I truly lucked out as they had one last pair of those shorts in my size plus one of those yoga tops also in my size in the matching color so I am thrilled.  Those shorts are a steal for that price!
  • I also bought green onions.  I believe they may have been sourced somewhere around Chernobyl as they are the largest green onions I have ever seen.

Doesn't look like things are moving there the way they used to.  Not a lot of cars in the lot and lots of things marked down.  It has changed more than a little since I started going there two years ago . . . sigh.

Dropped into a Tuesday Morning store yesterday after not being in one for many years.

Saw both round and one square wreath identical or similar to those you all were mentioning from Aldi that have shaved wood "flowers".

These were red, white and blue for July 4 and yesterday were marked down 25 percent--originally $29.99.

The square one was so unusual that I almost bought it for my front door, but a wiser voice in my head led me to other items.

I don't go out shopping at random too often........need to restrain myself when I do.

Oh @novamc1  I love me some Tuesday Morning and was absolutely beside myself when the one by me closed!  Such a loss as i could always find neat, quirky little things in there and great quality if you were willing to do a little digging.  I used to stock up on Rothschild's jellies/products as the prices were excellent.

Thanks for your post about your rabbits having bladder stones and that calcium was a key.  The vet just said "minerals" so I didn't know what exactly to be alert for.

I've been taking him to a local park around 5:30 AM so he could get some exercise and smell some different smells before it gets too hot.  He was kind of disappointed we didn't go out this morning, but I figured there would be 4th of July parties setting up in the park.

They had the Peachtree Road Race this morning in Atlanta.  I don't know how the runners stand it -- the humidity is something like 70 percent today with temps up in the 90's. I can't even bear walking around outside in the shade much less running through the hot streets.  At least the sky was somewhat overcast -- last year they had full blazing sun for the whole race.  They run the race in waves by groups -- the wheelchair athletes started at 6:30 AM.  I can't even imagine what kind of courage it takes to set such a goal for yourself.

This was the 50th Anniversary race -- they interviewed an Atlanta gentleman who is 80 and has run in every one of them.  They showed him working out at his house and looking at his prized collection of PRR Tee Shirts.

At least it's not one of the 26-mile marathons!

@Honeybit  geez I can barely waddle up two flights of stairs with groceries let alone entertain running a marathon at 80 . . . God bless!

Hope you and TMFY are doing well and that Yazzy's new diet is helping with his condition.  Thinking good thoughts and prayers for you two my friend . . . Heart

Good morning K-Team!

I believe it is Monday and hopefully things will seem more normal this week than last week.   The doggies are passed out on the sofa-they must have partied too hearty!   I am putting decorations and things away-it seemed like we had people in and out all weekend.   The weather here was miserable for the holiday.   Heat, humidity, pop up storms, etc.

What's everyone up to this fine day?   Back to work for many of you-hopefully the day will be kind.   Sometimes Monday after a holiday just makes you wonder if the holiday was worth having off.  Hope that is not your experience today.

Ok, quick Aldi update part II:

Those Asian Fusion bag o' noodles are delicious!  I made the sesame variety and it has a nice spice to it and not a ton of sodium (I hope as I already threw out the pouch but after my kitchen shear hunt I just cannot dig through another bag of garbage).  At .79 a pouch, I am going to go back this week and grab about a dozen more . . . yum!

@momtochloe

Were those Asian fusion bag o'noodles frozen?   Where in the store did you find them?

Better yet @mustang66lady  I believe they may be a weekly special type item as I found them on display at the end of a main aisle.  They are not frozen, just in a pouch where you stir them into boiling water or if you have a microwave you can make them in there.  Very tasty if nothing else is striking your fancy.  I am glad I have a bit leftover for tomorrow.

Those noodles might be like the Teriyaki Stir-Fry Udon noodle pouches that I find at Costco--4 pouches per refrigerated bag.

Costco also sells a similar frozen product from another company.  I've bought those a few times, too.

Really good with or without  some added vegetables and a little meat.

Good for using small amounts of leftover pork or chicken.  Some come with  Asian seasoning packets, but I sometimes add my own bottled sauces of hot or spicy Asian flavors.

I believe that regular grocery stores sell the same things, both fresh and frozen types.  You just have to look a little harder for them than more familiar products which get more shelf space.
