Re: Quick Pot Sticker Soup

[ Edited ]

Sitting here at the college while DD is at orchestra rehearsal. It’s almost 2 hours but it’s just far enough away from home to make it impractical to go home.

I take one of her friends home afterwards because his Mom works & therefore can’t pick him up. It’s on the other side of town for us but not a big deal, he wouldn’t be able to come otherwise.

Unbelievable that his father is sitting at home when we drop him off but he won’t pick him up. Very sad for this young man so I’m very happy we can help him - even in a small way.

@RespectLife  about the puff pastry/CPP, I have forgotten who was making it but they actually cut a sheet into strips and wove it together (is that called a lattice?) for the top.  They baked it off separate and added it to the CPP right before serving.  It was gorgeous!

@ChiliPepper

@RespectLife

Thanks for helping me with that broth.  I am going to try and make a little gravy with some of it but will still have probably at least a cup left over so now I'll freeze it for when I tackle a chuck roast this fall . . . thanks my friends!

@ChiliPepper  oh bless you my friend, you are such a dear person!  Thank you for lending a helping hand to that young man and always being there for your daughter.  Kids know and appreciate what their parents do for them more than we know sometimes so I know it means the world to Chili Jr. that you are such a terrific, loving and caring parent.  (((Chili)))  Heart

@momtochloe

@ChiliPepper

I encountered a similar situation when my sons were  playing LIttle League and  later high school baseball.

There was one boy on the team  whose parents just never showed up for anything, and my son asked if we could take him home from practices and games.  I drove out of my way many times to get that young man home, and he always looked so sad all the time.

Have no idea what was going on inside that house where I dropped him off, but it must not have been good.    They obviously had a talented son, and the son seemed to have no parents around for anything.

I still feel bad, after all these years, for what that child must have been through.

Gosh, that's a shame @ChiliPepper  That is SO nice of you to help him!

Over the 36 yrs. my DH coached, I can't tell you how many hundreds of times he had to drive kids home...whose parents were home but never came for them.

The biggest excuse he heard for years...

"My parent's told me to find a ride with someone but I couldn't"

Sad!

Sometimes the kids were so embarrassed that they were ditched, they just pretended like someone was coming!  DH never went home until every kid was picked up.

Easier to drive all over town himself than wait.

@momtochloe

great idea, thanks!

I have to try puff pastry.  I have used phyllo...for baklava only.  SO hard to work with sometimes.

But puffy pastry has got to be easier, right?

It is a cool, crisp SUNNY Friday!

What a great day to be OFF, too bad I am not!  LOL

But I am still blessed to see sun, even if it is through windows!

I have a free weekend!  Sending DH to @momtochloe til Sunday!  Hmmm, what kinda trouble can I get in?

I thin I will make Chix Orzo Soup and Chipotle Orange Shrimp.

What I really want is a big, gooey Steak, Cheese and Mushroom Sub!  Just dripping with fat, calories AND DELICIOUS FLAVOR!!
