Writer...thanks for sharing that Egg Lemon Cake from Louis' blog. That is sure one place I would have never looked for a recipe!

They mentioned it was a good Easter Morning Cake...I could definitely make that for my mom to eat in the mornings. She would love it. Thanks again!

Writer with Flair,

That cake sounds wonderful; please let us know how it turns out along with any suggestions you have. I always find this helpful.

My DH doesn't care much for sweets at all but what he does like he likes! Cheesecake is on that very short list and anything with nuts always gets his attention. I'm sure he will not be disappointed in not getting his usual dessert if I make this cheesecake and if he is, I will make his usual the following week!

Hi Respect,

If there was a way to send you a piece of that cheesecake when I make it, I would but Writer needs to send us a piece of this lemon cake, too! No one eats cake too much at our house but I love lemon so am sure I would love this. And Lord knows I don't need a whole cake to eat myself!

Hope everyone has a good evening and peaceful sleep!

Morning ladies!

I hear ya, mustang...we are always getting stuck with the rest of the dessert! My son & DIL are on major diets, my DD just hit her goal and is maintaining.

DH hates waste but neither him or I need to finish it! He has been taking what's left to coworkers. After maybe the second piece...I am tired of it anyways and looking for the next best recipe to try!

Even at church group...if there is leftovers they make me take it home! I think we are all trying to be healthier overall and know we are much better off without the temptation of it sitting there!

Someday when I retire, I would love to cook and bake and donate it to the City Mission! That way I could continue my passion without eating it all!

Good afternoon everyone!

I hope spring is arriving for everyone today. The day started off cloudy, chilly and depressing but a couple hours ago, the sun popped out and things are warming up and the chill is gone - at least for now.

RespectLife,

I have learned to pare things down to one or two things for dessert when we have a family meal so there isn't so much leftover. I used to make lots of desserts, mostly pies as that is what most of us liked the best, but as people passed, moved away, etc, well it just doesn't pay to spend the time and money making a lot of different things just to have leftovers that no one wants to take home because they are dieting. I will probably have lot of leftovers of coconut pie but I don't care, I need to remember my Mom this year. I will make something else that appeals to the "masses" here, maybe a couple different pies, but the coconut one is the one I want.

We don't have a local mission to donate food to and laws around here concerning home cooks are so strict I would be afraid if I spent time and money making something to donate, it would be turned away. I do miss having co-workers to cook and bake for. I worked in a rather large doctor's group before retiring and food was always welcome. I would swear some doctors could smell food thru the Tupperware/lock n lock!

Hope all have a great weekend and that spring is moving in for everyone.

I made this soup today and it is fantastic. I added a Stir Fry Mix by EAT Smart to get some of the healthy veggies like kale, chard, etc. Did not use the sauce. Thank you for posting.

Hello iQue,

So happy you liked the soup. I have never seen the stir fry mix you pictured, but am glad it worked out well for you. Just about any veggie you like in stir fry will work, as many have mentioned. Thank you for taking time to comment on the soup and for the photo of what you used in yours! Hope you have a good week ahead of you. Smile

I haven't seen it either, iQue, but I am going to watch for it. Finding the right veggie mix for this soup would be great!

Here's a surprise...it is barely 20 degrees out today and I am making this soup tonight! I am thawing some chix thighs to go in it too!

It will be my first time to try out my new Aldi's potstickers!

Hi Respect!

Wow, it is still really cold where you are! I'm not sure how warm it got here today; in the low 60's I think and it is suppose to be a little warmer tomorrow but not without price. We are suppose to get some bad storms late tomorrow although I think it will be raining most of the day. It is already 71% humidity and it is only 9:30 p.m. Wednesday our temps will drop some but the storms are suppose to be worse. I think they will end sometime Thursday morning and by Friday it will be quite a bit cooler, but not 13. I am planning on soup by the end of the week too, but will be making Italian Sausage and Tortellini soup to use up some fresh spinach before it's too late.

ChiliPepper,

Sounds like spring hasn't quite gotten to your neck of the country yet either. I am hoping with the drop in temps, that it doesn't ruin the flowers starting to come up. I have daffodils ready to bloom and one of our forsynthia bushes has bloomed already. I have hyacinths and iris pushing up thru the ground, too. Hope you enjoy your soup and stay warm!

Good Morning Kitchenettes, another cooooooool morning here...8 degrees this morning! That's ok though, the sun is shining & Spring is coming.

Mustang, your sausage & tortellini soup sounds REALLY good too! All of us might have to try that one too! We should keep this thread going as a "soup discussion". I know I love soup/stew of any kind.

The thought of flowers sounds amazing. Unfortunately, my daffodils are still under a 5 foot snowbank with tons of ice/snow from the roof on top of it. We had to shovel off the roof - we get so much in our area that there is the fear of collapse from the weight. Nooooow, you see why I so look forward to Spring - especially this year. I know my babies are under there - daffodils are hardly little guys so its just a matter of time.

Is the recipe for the sausage tortellini soup posted here somewhere?
