@novamc1

I'm with you.  My current preferred method is to husk and quickly brush the silk off the corn, then lay the ears on a microwave-safe plate, cover them with a damp paper towel (although I have even omitted the towel) and microwave for a couple of minutes.  Then butter, salt, and devour with the gusto of a starving hound dog.

I've had corn-in-the-husk hot off the grill (and hot out of the microwave), and there was no way not to get burned trying to pull the husks off those blistering hot ears.  Sooo not worth the mess!  (And the delay getting to eat time was intolerable.)

After trying the husk-first microwave method, though, I'll never go back to boiling.  This is so quick, you can eat two ears while two more are cooking.  And after one experiment, you can pretty much narrow down exactly how much time-per-ear gives exactly the corn you prefer.

Good evening everyone

A long but productive day.  I had a lot of meetings and this one meeting is made up of employees who, I guess, do not do a lot of meetings.  They don't seem to know how to start and stop them.  I feel bad when I take over, but there's just a lot of shuffling going on when we join and then no one seems to know how to wrap it up. It amuses me.  I guess because I do so many meetings with "meeting people" we just all know how to get in and get out.

We had a successful backpack event.  We received all 45 backpacks for the county family services outreach.  Tomorrow we check all the bags and make sure they have the required items. If they don't we will run across the street to Target to get what we need.  I bought popcorn from Popped Republic for snacking while we work.  I hope it's good.  I've heard good things about it.  It's a popcorn food truck.

WC#1 came by to chat.  He ended up telling me a back door way to get the list of name I needed for something.  There is a group email in Outlook but you have to know what it's called.  And now I do ;o)  I have been waiting for 3 weeks for someone to get me the list (plus the 2 months waiting for the Director to sign off on the document).

We move so slowly here.

And then he did 15 minutes of stand up with my ice breaker cards for my meeting in a few weeks.  Now I won't be able to use them without cracking up.

I should not have left them out on my desk.

Oh WOW @momtochloe   It never occurred to me that that could happen.  I think mine has batteries, I have to check.  I'm not sure if I've ever had to change them.

It is supposed to get seriously hot and humid again today.  I would normally work from home but I have to go and check the backpacks in.

Stay cool if you can.

Good Morning Kitchenettes!!! Happy, happy Wonderful Wednesday!!!

We FINALLY got some rain (my grass "crunches" when you walk on it - it's so dry). I woke up at 4-ish this morning to thunder, lightening & rain. Yee ha!!!!!

The down side is that it's gonna be super humid for the next week. Ugh!!!!!

Busy, busy week at work.

Oh @momtochloe  how on earth does that momma hold all those pups inside of her!

I can't wait to see the pics.  Sorry to hear one passed though!

Try to stay cool...I know my weather is very difficult for many of you.  If I could scoop it all my way and away from ya'all I would!  DH would move your way then...but hey, sacrifices can be made!  Tee hee!!
