If anyone is in the market for a quick and yummy sloppy joe recipe, I made this yesterday and it's delicious.  It reminds me very much of the one that my mom used to make so I was thrilled with the results.  Since I cut down the recipe, I added a bit too much balsamic vinegar so I balanced it out with a little brown sugar and next time I think I will saute some onions along with the ground beef:

@momtochloe

I admire your energy when it comes to putting together some Sloppy Joes.

My lazy way is to brown some ground beef, add a packet of McCormick Sloppy Joe mix plus the canned tomato sauce amounts listed on the packet,  throw in some frozen chopped green pepper and onions while beef is browning, and then simmer a few minutes.

It's both sweet and savory enough for our dinner. (And I've tried many other made-from-scratch versions of sloppy joe sauce.)

Never thought of adding balsamic vinegar, which is interesting--thanks for mentioning that.

But I'm afraid I'm never going to get away from using the perfect seasoning packets for certain dishes that McCormick spice company makes.

My faves are McCormick seasoning packets for Sloppy Joes, Savory Pot Roast, Beef Pot Roast, Pulled Pork and Pulled Chicken.  Never tried their mix for meatloaf, am sure it's good, but DH does not like meatloaf--he's crazy and prefers just plain hamburgers instead.  LOL!!

I keep meaning to buy some stock in McCormick, but let it get away from me  years ago at a much lower share price.

Gonna open up my stock trading software right now and check it out.  Still interested in owning it.

Today's weekly Aldi ad lists several  Asian noodle  and other types of ethnic foods at what seem to be low prices.  Is the one you mentioned included here, @momtochloe ?

Fusia Asian Inspirations heat & serve Asian noodle bowls

Fusia Asian Inspirations Mandarin Orange or General Tso's Chicken

Journey to Thailand Pad Thai or Thin Rice Noodles

Fusia Asian Inspirations Chicken or Pork Egg Rolls.  (I love the Chung brand of egg rolls seen in many grocery store freezer cases, so would like to try these from Aldi.)

I'm already a fan of another Aldi item listed in today's ad, to which I add a little chicken or pork sometimes---Season's Choice Steamable Asian Medley Stir Fry (vegetables).

Thanks for highlighting those Asian selections @novamc1  as they are so good (I had the reminder of the noodles/chicken leftovers with a scrambled egg for breakfast, yum!). I was so happy to see them this morning when I was combing through the latest ad (I am a fan of the Orange Chicken).  I was also thrilled to see next week they will have that car organizer we had been talking about complete with an insulated pouch:

Thanks for asking Writer.  He recently had an adjustment in his medicine and we are hoping that will tip him more solid.  The real test will be when school starts back up.  I had noticed he had better results with his morning medicine and my theory was he took it before he ate breakfast so it metabolized faster and better.  By the time he takes his afternoon medicine, he has had breakfast and lunch and seems to metabolize more slowly and not as effective.  DH noticed him having better attention in football practice in the evenings since starting the new medicine.   Fingers and toes crossed!

And hee @novamc1  your post about my "ambitious" sloppy joe recipe literally made me laugh out loud!  I may have to look into McCormick's mixes.  I usually don't as they are measured out for larger portions than I make but that could easily be cut in half for my needs.  Thanks for the tip (but I was shocked at how the balsamic vinegar was a game changer)!

Hello K-Team!

STARS AND GARTERS IS IT HOT, HOT, HOT OUTSIDE!

Just got back from going to Aldi's and to Schnucks (a St. Louis based local chain grocery store), went to Sonic for a fountain soda and finally home.   It was 94 degrees at 10:15.  The humidity is crazy off the hook.   Heat indexes will be triple digits if it isn't already there.  The weather will be coming on t.v. in a few minutes.  Oh yup-heat index is 104 and rising-108 in Cape Girardeau where DD lives.

@momtochloe

We are under severe storm warnings and I believe those will stretch all the way to Chicago-have you listened to your local weather lately?   Looks like those storms are just entering western Missouri with just some light rain in the front of the storms.

The McCormick sloppy joe mix calls for  1 pound of ground beef.

It's too much for one meal at our house, but the remainder just gets put into the freezer.

One pound of burger could be divided into four servings and is nice to have around for later use.

Forgot to mention that a dash or two of Worcestershire sauce is good in the sloppy joe mix, but I usually forget to add it.

We also use McCormick Taco and Chili mixes very often and like the reduced sodium varieties.

After years of fixing one sauce recipe after another that required lots of different ingredients and longer at the stove, this ready-made stuff is just too easy.

It's my reward for getting old and lazy!
