I have never seen Tarragon Vinegar though. I went to 3 stores last week to try and find Sherry Vinegar for DiAnne's BBQ Pot Salad and came up empty.

re:  your trouble finding tarragon vinegar.............

Finding flavored  or "specialty" vinegars in my local mainstream grocery stores  (Giant Food or Safeway) will involve searching high on the uppermost shelves around other vinegars.  They don't stock much of those types, and there might be a limited supply or variety. They seem sort of hidden away among the lesser-known types and brands, if they are available at all in a particular store.

I suppose we could aways infuse our own vinegars with any herb, but I know little about that, or what level of vinegar acidity to use.

I just know that tarragon has a nice fragrance, in addition to the taste it adds to foods, especially chicken.

If you have Wegman's, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's or another smaller chain store, you might have more luck.  Good luck!

@novamc1

I do have Wegman's and TJ....

Of course there is always Amazon..but I have found their prices ridiculous on certain items!

I tried doing my own bacon infused oil once....didn't taste much bacon flavor though!

The stir caused among critics about ketchup in chicken salad was extra funny, and gave me an opportunity to point out that the venerable "Joy of Cooking" cookbook, which  has been around for decades, suggests adding chili sauce to chicken salad.  ,

The only chili sauce I've ever seen is tomato-based, and so is ketchup.

@novamc1

I would LOVE chili sauce in chix salad!  My mom used to make the best homemade chili sauce!

I haven't been able to find a store brand I like yet!

DiAnne's BBQ Pot salad is a similar concept!  BBQ is tomato based just like ketchup, and we all really liked it!

Well, we would never eat that much dip either so I figured I would 1/2 or 1/4 the recipe & just make a mini football.

It's way too cute not to make. I even get DD to watch with me during Super Bowl, mostly for the food & commercials though LOL!!!

I'm sure I can make a mini version!

Speaking of football commercials....

Have you guys seen the new State Farm commercial w/ Aaron Rogers and Clay Matthews and the fly?

It is hysterical!  It is Super Bowl worthy!

P.S.

I think also I will throw in some chopped cooked bacon,  fresh chopped red and/or green peppers, and chopped green onions to the mix.  Just a thought.
