I got a gift card from work way back when. I broke down yesterday & bought myself a present with it for my yard. I love these, been wanting them for a long time.

Chili,

Those yard scupltures are so lovely and graceful.  They look as cool as a cucumber.

Oh my goodness @ChiliPepper, those look delicious and refreshing especially on a day like today . . . slurp!

My favorite way to have watermelon is cubed and drizzled with reduced balsamic vinegar and maybe a very light sprinkle of salt . . . Smiley Happy

mtc,

I just bought some balsamic sauce a couple of weeks ago (I think it is a reduction) and will definitely try your idea.  It sounds delish!  Thanks!

Chili,

That watermelon looks wonderful.  I never heard of grilling it before.  I tried some grilled peaches one time and grilled fresh figs and both were lovely.  I put lime and honey (or agave nectar) on both.  I bet the balsamic reduction would be good on them, too.

Thank you all dear friends for your support and prayers.
Everything went smoothly at the funeral. The organist lowered the keys for me and I was blessed to get through all three songs. I pray they were a blessing to God and an honor to papa Q.
I look forward to joining you guys again tomorrow.
Many hugs!!!

Dear Respect,

I know it must have been an emotionally draining day.  I pray that you are having a restful sleep.  You and Papa's family are in my prayers.

How to Cut Watermelon

@momtochloe   Found this by googling "Cutting Watermelon" -- simpler than the video.

Honeybit,

What a great idea!  I will definitely have to try that.  I like that it gives everyone a little "handle" to hold.

By the way, it is so nice to see you back.  You defintely were in our thoughts and prayers.

Novamc,

I cannot imagine what it is like to go through 38 years of things.  Better you than me, my friend!

I wish we all lived closer.  I would love to come to one of your sales and would treasure owning something from your "collection."

Once, I bought a costume necklace from a lady whose mother had passed away.  She had said how much her mother had liked it.  I let her know how much I valued it and reassured her that her mother's "treasure" had found a good home where it would be lovingly used and appreciated.  I hope people are doing that for you.

@novamc1  Good to hear from you.  Craigslist is an interesting social experiment for sure.

I'm watching the video Chaz posted on the Barbra Streisand concert last night in LA.  It's fabulous and she is doing a ton of stuff from A Star is Born, which is my favorite album of hers.

Now I want to watch the movie.

VaBelle,

I saw part of  "A Star is Born" in the past couple of months.  I had not seen it since it first came out.  The part I saw was wonderful.  I'll have to watch it all the way through soon.

The music is outstanding.  I especially like "With One More Look" and "Evergreen."  You just can't beat Babs!  I am so happy that she has finally found happiness with James Brolin.  She has given us all so much.

I have a similar pair from last year but they are starting to look worn.  It's time to refresh the fall/winter work shoes.

VaBelle,
Will you be wearing the shoes on one of your dates?  What is the current status of all crushes (work, auto, and golfing)?  Inquiring minds want to know.

Novamc,

Bring over cat hair to your house to check out how well a vacuum works?  Unbelievable!  People are just too weird these days.

You need to start writing down these stories.  You may have a book in there somewhere, my friend.

Happy Thursday everyone!  It's been a busy week.

Not sure if I mentioned that my mom had been having some health concerns. It's been a week of getting her to various appointments and trying to keep the home fires burning!  We had a colon cancer scare but found out the mass they had found was still at a pre-cancerous stage. It still needs to be removed, and she will have that surgery next week.  We're trying to get a lot of errands and household chores caught up, because next week will be getting her ready and then spending time there while she is being hospitalized.

Its always something, isn't it?  Smiley Happy

Oh, many of you were asking about my beloved fur baby. His name is Charlie, he's a yellow lab, and he's about 5&1/2 years old. He frequently finds himself in self-inflicted humorous predicaments and he's really the love of my life.....tied with my DH, of course!  He's a foodie through and through (he'd fit in here very well), and he thinks he owns and has sleeping rights to every bed in the house. He loves to swim, play fetch, take long walks, sleep, and of course, eat anything we put in front of him (and also some things we don't...he loves to counter surf)!

Well, I'd best get back to everything here, but I just wanted to thank everyone again for your sincere welcome. I knew if mtc was a member, you had to be a terrific group!  The warmth of your welcome has really meant a lot to me.

Sending positive thoughts to everyone as you encounter your own challenges this week and I'll look forward to reading about what you all are up to!

Dear seattlegirl98026,

It was good to hear that your mom does not have cancer.  We will keep you and yours in our thoughts and prayers.
